I see each space as three dimensional art. I am driven by the challenge to improve the functionality of people’s lives through aesthetics; with consideration to how they are affected by their environments. I love the creative process. Thru experience, it is knowing to ask the right questions combined with the powers of observation. Often seeing the way a space can be developed in a way people don’t necessary think about themselves.
It has been said – if everything is emphasized then nothing is emphasized. The magic comes from choosing where the emphasis is placed. Once determined, layer this with a certain amount of continuity and a certain amount of variation – thus creating harmony within a space. Ultimately, this as a designer is what I attempt to achieve. You know when you have entered into such a space as it draws you in and causes the eye to move about the room – evoking your senses to the author’s intent. Light, color, texture, shape and form intermingle; objects dominate or recede to produce a winning solution for each project.
My strengths are in understanding the importance of ‘context’ around a clients’ project allowing me to make better decisions because you sense the underlying structure or view the big picture. There you can evaluate accurately the potential obstacles. For residential projects – I often have heard “how did you figure me out?”
I take a strategic approach to assignments enabling me to sort through the clutter and find the best route. It is innate skill and not one that can be taught. This is how I actively leverage my value proposition in projects, through collaboration, by assimilating design integrity while still meeting deadlines.
Good design doesn’t necessarily cost more. Good design just is.
